Ashley has always believed that food made by hand carries something a store-bought item never could: comfort, hope, and an act of love. What started as a personal passion for baking in her own kitchen slowly grew into a much bigger vision. After witnessing the daily hardships many in our community face, she felt called to move beyond baking for friends and family. She wanted her passion to become a purpose.
Growing up, Ashley learned that the smallest gestures often leave the deepest marks. When she was young she loved to make handwritten notes and hand crafted gifts for her friends and family to show her love for them. Now, whether it’s a tray of cookies delivered to a shelter or fresh muffins for a family in need, she believes change begins with these simple acts of compassion. The gift of not only a homemade treat, but also a beautiful handwritten note will spread the joy and love that every person deserves to receive. This dream of Ashley's has grown into Baking a Difference, an initiative where neighbors help neighbors, reminding those who are struggling that they are never alone; they are cared for and they are loved.
Baking a Difference provides a way to share love with people who are in need of extra support and kindness in the Monterey community. With the craft of baking, people in the county can come together in this project and make a lasting impact, a difference that will brighten lives. A difference that delivers love.

Our mission is to serve the homeless and food insecure families in our community through the simple gift of homemade baked goods and consistent acts of kindness. We are dedicated to providing fresh meals and encouragement to individuals experiencing hardship, sharing hope one handmade treat at a time. Every effort we make is rooted in love and the belief that everyone deserves dignity and warmth.
